Company Description:

Founded in 2011, ReUse Action, Inc. is Western New York’s First and Only Green Demolition Team. We are licensed and insured demolition contractors and restoration contractors and we sell reclaimed materials to the public. Though we are contractors, our passion is training young adults and providing necessary services to support homeowners, artists, and contractors in the City of Buffalo and beyond.

Our rebuilding team focuses on all aspects of building restoration and rebuilding. We specialize in old homes and barns and the incorporation of reclaimed materials.

LEAD PROJECT MANAGER — Construction/Deconstruction

Job Description:

The Lead Project Manager is a hands-on position, you’re not a hands-off supervisor that barks orders, but rather a hands-on leader who oversees the technical aspects of the job, oversees a small work crew of laborers, facilitates daily work projects, and ensures that the needs of our clients are met and expectations exceeded.  ReUse Action is a community-minded company; we pride ourselves in developing and maintaining strong relationships with our customers, performing only the highest quality work, and providing young adults with meaningful job training/apprenticeship opportunities. The Lead Project Manager will provide oversight and leadership on jobs, technical oversight, quality control, and so much more.

Qualifications:

  • Desire to work with a community minded company that mentors and trains young adults.
  • Extensive experience with general carpentry, home improvement, and restoration of old buildings.
  • Physically fit and able to set the bar for a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, give direction to other crew members, and maintain a safe, efficient, and professional work crew.
  • Willingness to learn the finer details of building deconstruction and salvage.
  • Must own a vehicle and have basic hand/power tools.

ReUsed Material Acquisition Coordinator (ReMAC)

Job Description:

The ReUsed Material Acquisition Coordinator (ReMAC) at ReUse Action is designed to identify unique material salvage opportunities BEFORE good quality materials end up in the landfill. Saving materials is our mission, creating jobs and economic benefit for the community is our vision here in Buffalo. We are looking for a mover and shaker to join our team, to improve the acquisition of materials into our community store and to ensure a seamless process for procurement, harvesting, transport, and delivery to Action HQ on Buffalo’s East Side.

Qualifications:

We’re seeking a candidate who’s an excellent multi-tasker, has excellent oral communication skills, and can connect with a variety of potential constituents. It’s critical we have a candidate who has the ability to recognize emerging opportunities, direct resources, and capitalize on the waste of the construction industry.  Utilize web-based tools to identify redevelopment projects and opportunities for material salvage.  Familiarity with the construction industry and building materials very important and your own transportation critical (reimbursement available), given there will be a lot of face to face contact with collaborators.

Job Requirements:

  • Utilize the Construction Exchange, local media, and word of mouth to identify upcoming renovation, rehabilitation, and demolition projects to identify material salvage opportunities.
  • Leverage social media, websites, newsletters, and blogs, to articulate our vision for salvaging materials and diverting reusable materials from the landfill.
  • Implement a “bird dog” program to encourage community members to assist in the effort of identifying salvage opportunities.
  • Coordinate a weekly salvage schedule and coordinate projects with the salvage and reclamation team.
  • Network with the construction trades, municipalities, and the public to identify material reuse and recycling opportunities.
  • Research best practice models around the country and propose city policies that encourage material recycling and reuse.
  • Identify consignment partners for our store, namely local artisans and artists that create works from reclaimed materials.
  • Establish and maintain an efficient flow of unique, high quality, reclaimed materials into the store.
  • Maintain and update company social media, website, and blogs to keep material salvage at the forefront of the public’s mind.
  • Assist with on-line sales of unique materials.
